skipper needed for trip on the Rhine - Duesseldorf area - this post is in English

Hello everyone,

I am writing this post in English, because my Deutsch is currently on a beginner level and you might not understand what I would like to say..
After long researches on the internet I’ve decided to buy a Bayliner BR 185, but not without a drive test first to make sure the boat is what I want and I like it.
Because I have very little experience with motor boats and especially with motor boats on a river like Rhein, I can not do the drive test alone and I would need your help for this.

In case someone of you, who possesses a Binnen Fuehrerschein, has a day free next week, and would like to come with me for an unforgettable trip on the Rhein, please reply to this post or simply send me a PM.
Based of your schedule, I intend to rent a Bayliner boat from Duesseldorf – this is where I leave, or nearby Duesseldorf.
Absolutely all the coasts will be of course on me.
What will you get in return after this? .. well, I guess only fun and the joy of riding a 2012 (hopefully) Bayliner. What I will get from you..? some advices and a bit of your skipper experience.

If somebody would like to coach me for money, I am also available to pay if the price is not ridiculous high.

The only condition would be that you shall speak English with me, cause my Deutsch, as I mentioned before, is not good enough.

First of all: Welcome to the "Boote-Forum"!

I think, many of the interested newbies, that would like to get started with boats, should follow your example and first try out, what they are about to spend their money and time for.

And to start with the help of an experienced and local resided skipper is worthy of imitation, too.

Probably better than buying an overpriced boat, opening the throttle without experience in an unknown fairway endangering man and nature just to find out, that you'd have better spent your money to the next issue of "Homes and Gardens" or "Horse and Hunt".

Maybe you could tell us something about the background of your Interest and, what has driven you coming to be a Rhein-skipper.. Many people live near the Rhein but don't have anything to do with boats at all.

Er möchte eine 185 BR kaufen, macht aber vor dem Kauf eine Probefahrt mit einem (hoffentlich) baugleichen Modell auf dem Rhein und möchte dabei herausfinden, ob das Boot das richtige für ihn ist.

"Absolutely all the coasts will be on me."??? Die englischsprachige Dame oder der englischsprachige Herr meinte wohl "costs". Kann man das verwechseln? Merkwürdig. Und nicht nur das. Ribar.

Nicht nur das... er "verlässt" ja auch und lebt nicht ("this is where I leave"), mal "Rhein", mal "Rhine", die Küsten statt der Kosten
und der teils sehr vertraute, doch für einen Englischsprechenden ungewöhnliche Satzbau lassen deutlich darauf schließen, das wir
es hier nicht mit einem Englisch-Muttersprachler zu tun haben.

Das merkt man vielen Kleinigkeiten, Kommata an Stellen wo sie im Deutschen zwar wären oder sein können, im Englischen jedoch
unüblich sind, das Umlaut-e bei "Duesseldorf" - der Engländer schreibt schlicht "Dusseldorf" oder wenn er ein deutsches Keyboard-
layout hat auch mit "ü", aber "ue" im Fließtext ist mehr als ungewöhnlich.

Auch hat man im englichsprachigen Raum keinen "freien Tag" ("day free"), sondern einen "day off", "will be on me" ist auch eine
ganz krude Verkettung welche vollkommen unüblich ist (der Engländer stellt den anderen üblicherweise frei) usw...

Andererseits hat der TE ja auch nirgendwo gesagt dass er englischer Muttersprachler sei - allerdings ist wie gesagt der Satzbau
derart deutsch, dass neben dem Deutschen fast nur noch das Niederländische als Basis für dieses Englisch in Frage kommt.
Dort wird allerdings zuallermeist überraschend und beschämend gut Deutsch gesprochen.

Ich glaube hier verspielt sich jemand, zu welchem Zweck ist mir aber nicht klar.

Gentlemen,
I didn’t expect to have from your side, so much attention and such a deep analysis of my words written in English. If I knew, I would have double checked my wordings, not to make mistakes
Now after reading my post again, I agree with you that I had some misspellings which might have caused confusion.
Apart from that, I am pretty sure you got me correctly, like Greg or Torsten for example and not only.
Nevertheless, the good news is that the trip will start tomorrow morning from Koeln Marina . Torsten, if you are interested and have time in the evening for a short ride on the Rhine in Koeln area sent me a PM - I rented a motor boat from Koeln Marina.
The background is the following: I love nature and water sports - and I wanna buy a motor boat that I could ride relaxed and confident on Rhine too. I did the boats school this year in Romania, on the Black Sea, for motor boats as well as for sail boats. Riding a boat on an opened sea and riding a boat on a river like Rhein it is something that at least for now looks to me not as easy. The school boat was an old Ajax without a steering wheel but with a tiller instead, one 10 Hp engine, 2 masts, 2 sails. That is why I would prefer to jump on the Rhine with someone experienced first.

Das Boot war sogar um einiges größer als das, welches er zu kaufen beabsichtigt, aber er hat genau das "erfahren"
können, worum es ihm ging , und ich habe in ihm und Torsten zwei weitere sehr nette und anständige "Boatpeople"
kennenlernen dürfen. Ein perfekter Tag.

vielen Dank nochmal für den genialen Tag mit zwei offenen und herzlichen Menschen!

Besonders der Abstecher die Mosel hoch mit Doppelschnitzel in Winningen bei herrlichem "indian summer" und kühlem Kölsch war ein absolutes Highlight und für mich auch gleichzeitig ein vollkommener Saisonabschluß!

First things we do in life, we never forget, or we forget them very hard. I know that I won't easily forget the morning when together with Gregor and Torsten on a motor boat, we rode towards Koblenz, on the beautiful Rhine.
The water in the Koeln Marina was like a lake when we were preparing to leave the port behind, you could have seen your face into the water if you wanted
After a few moments, suddenly directly in front of me, the whirling waves of Rhine appeared, whispering me in a mysterious way.., hey mister, are you sure that you wanna do this?
Some would say that I am a monster,.. and I might bite you if you are not careful enough.. so make sure you keep your eyes wide open while I am carrying you.
And this is how the journey on the Rhine started ..


Greg, Torsten, you were a great a companion, I learned lots of things from you. Much appreciated!

It was just a precision landing in the right time. Half an hour later we can´t see the buoys. We sampled the pleasure of boating on that day

Da dies mein erster Tag dieses Jahr auf dem Wasser war, wäre mir auch ein anschließender Überfall schnuppe gewesen...
